A degassing machine is removing gasses from the liquid aluminum. This removes any air bubbles that may cause impurities in the casting.

The plaster molds can create dusty conditions.
 
Checking the temperature of the molten metal. It needs to be reduced to 1200 degrees to pour into the mold. To the immediate left foreground is one of the small furnaces that melts the metals.

Excess material is being trimmed by hand before it has time to harden.
 
Excess liquid aluminum is being poured back into one of the bar molds so it can be reused at a later time. This would be more fun if it were solid gold! :-)
